My name is Sarah and I'm a 24-year-old illustrator from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I have completed my BFA in illustration from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York as of May 2007.
I want to work in graphics, advertising, and illustrative industries more than anything. I like best working with acrylics, gouache, watercolor, chalk pastels and colored pencil on colored and textured papers. I also love making dimensional work out of colored, patterned papers, and binding handmade books. My exploration of dimensional work started with simple origami creations and evolved into modular polyhedra consisting of up to 270 pieces per model. I love exploring color and pattern combinations, especially when making hand-bound books. I’ve made books with soft-covers, Japanese binding techniques, hard-covers and book boxes.
Besides illustrative and traditional experience, I have over 10 years of webdesign, graphics, typography and print experience. For the past 6 years I have been doing freelance projects, including designing websites, CD cases/design, scanning, photo retouching, graphic layouts for print media, and more. I have excellent working knowledge of Adobe suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), hand-coding HTML, CSS, and manipulating javascript, and setting up php/mySQL databases for galleries and marketing. I have solid working knowledge of branding guidelines, color theory, and have been meeting and exceeding various clients' expectations since 2000.
